One of the Tenka Goken, a tachi made by Awataguchi Kunitsuna.
A spiritual sword that wanders relentlessly in search of demons and his master. The holder of spiritual tales that amongst others include warning his master in their dreams, and moving on his own and cutting things. Although he dislikes to be involved in matters that do not concern his objectives, he is also quick to empathise.

History
Hōjō Tokiyori, the regent of Kamakura, fell ill to a strange "disease" and became haunted by a demon. Tokiyori dreamed of an old man who told him that he was his sword made by Kunitsuna and that he could get rid of the demon once it was cleaned.
"I am your sword of Kunitsuna. Someone touched me with dirty hands and now I can´t be drawn out of my scabbard because I am so rusty. When you want to get rid off this demon, you should quickly free me from rust."
After Tokiyori cleansed the sword, it magically fell out of its rack and sliced off the foot of the nearby brazier. The foot was shaped like a demon and Tokiyori was never haunted again. The Onimaru Kunitsuna became a prized treasure of the Hōjō family and ended up with the Ashikaga family, who also valued the sword.
The Hojo Regents were defeated by the combining forces of Emperor Go-Daigo, Nitta Yoshisada and Ashikaga Takauji, and Onimaru find himself in the hands of Nitta Yoshisada after the last of the Hojo committed seppuku.
A few years later, Yoshisada suffered defeat in a dispute and Onimaru somehow find himself being brought into the Ashikaga's possessions. (Records for this part is uncertain.)
After the Ashikaga lost power, Onimaru was presented to Oda Nobunaga. But soon afterwards, he's given away to retainers. From there, he passed through and end up in possessions of all three Unifiers of Japan over time.
He eventually end up in the hands of Honami clan, before he's presented to the imperial family.
However, on June 11, 1628, the imperial prince suddenly died, and Onimaru was returned to the Honami family again. They called him a "sword of misfortune".
In October, 1867, the Imperial Family ruled that Onimaru Kunitsuna as an imperial court property, and ordered for him to be handed over. He entered the imperial collection as the Honami clan lost their managerial authority.
